Jerusalem of gold

The mountain air is clear as wine
And the scent of pines
Is carried on the breeze of twilight
With the sound of bells.
And in the slumber of tree and stone
Captured in her dream
The city that sits solitary
And in its heart -- a wall.
Jerusalem of gold
And of bronze, and of light
Am I not a violin for all your songs.
How? The cisterns have dried
The market-place is empty
And no one frequents the Temple Mount
In the Old City.
And in the caves in the mountain
Winds are wailing
And no one descends to the Dead Sea
By way of Jericho.
But as I come to sing to you today,
And to adorn you with crowns
I am the smallest of the youngest of your children
And of the last poets
For your name scorches the lips
Like the kiss of a seraph
If I forget thee, O Jerusalem,
Which is all of gold...
We have returned to the cisterns
To the market and to the market-place
A ram's horn calls out on the Temple Mount

Cute As a Button ~

She'll be cute as a button, everyone knows
From her tiny little curls to her chubby little toes.

She'll be cute as a button, even when she's bad
And especially when she's happy, angry, tired or sad.

She'll be cute as a button, in every possible way
In everything she does all through each night and day.

She'll be cute as a button, just you wait and see
With an attitude I'm sure to match her Daddy and Mommy.

Oh, lead me, lead me to the cross ~

Savior, I come quiet my soul
Remember, redemption's hill
Where Your blood was spilled
For my ransom
Everything I once held dear
I count it all as loss
Lead me to the cross where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees, Lord, I lay me down
Rid me of myself, I belong to You
Oh, lead me, lead me to the cross
You were as, I tempted and tried
Human, the word became flesh
Bore my sin in death
Now You're risen

Israel, dear as life to thee ~

Israel, dear as life to thee,
from that majestic hill.
With words from Torah’s melody,
music, then and still.

It casts its meanings
for our soul, and only we can tell
what thing there is that possesses us
and brings its magic spell.

Beloved country to muse upon
from ancient days of old.
And those who gave their lives to thee,
brave and ever bold.

We possess this ancient land.
Its breath we hold so dear.
We are the very soul of it.
It is what we revere.

And when we wander far from it,
we see it in our dreams.
And mark the place where scholars stood,
holy and serene.

That holy place, that G-dly face.
It is both yours and mine.
Where the honor of our people stand
for now and the rest of time.

You are full of fun and LIFE ~

Psalms 139

I knit you together
in your mother's womb.

Psalm 139:13
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother?s womb.
(NIV Bible)

When I read this verse, my mind wanders off to a Victorian style living room, softly lit by a crackling fire. There is a grandmother in this room, gently rocking back and forth in her maple rocking chair as she knits a sweater for a beloved grandchild. I can see the expression on her face, as all her love is, for this moment focused on this new creation.
In her mind, she can picture how the sweater will look when it is finished, and the joy that it will bring to her grandchild's heart. With anticipation, she continues to knit one, pearl two, knit one, pearl two as the sweater begins take the form that she always imagined it to be. This project is not work for her, for it brings much joy to her soul and delight to her heart because each stitch is filled with love.
Now for a moment, think about how God knit you together in your mother's womb. Our Father uses such a tender illustration of how He lovingly, and carefully created our being. He could have blasted us together, or snapped His fingers and we would have appeared, but He chose a more delicate process in which He could be intimately involved as He formed us in our mothers womb...knit one, pearl two, knit one, pearl two.
Stitch by stitch, loop by loop, each one of our parts was delicately and carefully crafted by Almighty God. Your life is not the product of an impersonal evolution, but the result of a loving Father, who planned your creation before the foundations of the world, and took the time to knit you together in your mother's womb. You are a masterpiece, and your very existence brings much joy to your Father's heart.
PRAYER
Father I thank You for creating my inmost being. I know each strand of my DNA was fashioned by You, stitch by stitch, loop by loop, with a love that called me to life. I was created in love, and for love. And in my heart, I want to express my love back to you for being such a wonderful Father to me that You would knit me together in my mother's womb. In the name of Your

Aliyah is my GIFT ~

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

9-8-2013

Abu Adnan, a Syrian Rebel group leader, praised Israeli Housing Minister Uri Ariel’s comments regarding the recent chemical attack in Syria. Adnan exclaimed, “Allow me to send a message of thanks and appreciation to [Ariel] for his humane and valuable statements and for his beautiful expression of emotion toward the children killed in Syria and toward the women being killed in Syria.”
The comments to which Adnan referred included Ariel’s proclamation, “Of all people, we, who cried out, and have been asking to this day, ‘how could the world have been silent?’ – We, as people; we, as Jews, cannot remain silent in the face of genocide, no matter who it is and where it is. And I say to ourselves – first of all, to ourselves, as Jews; as citizens of Israel; as a minister in the government of Israel, there will not be another genocide. We will not allow it.”
“The Jews in Zion and Jews the world over have an obligation – not a right, an obligation of the first degree – to alert and wake up the entire world, everywhere, in the UN, in the US and Europe – we are obligated to do this because we experienced this as a nation, and we are the Jewish people. I am already acting and I will continue to act so that this awareness will reach everywhere and that with the grace of G-d, we will stop this horror,” Ariel declared.

Ariel criticized Obama’s postponing a Syrian military operation until he receives congressional approval, and referred to Assad as a cowardly killer, who had indiscriminately murders thousands. “He’s not a lion, he’s a murderous rabbit; take care of him already.” He also accused the world of doing nothing about the 100,000 Syrian corpses, concluding that “no one in the world will stand with [Israel]” as it faces the “real dangers” in Syria.

While the Syrian rebels share Ariel’s disappointment with Obama, Adnan nevertheless expressed hope, noting, “We believe that Israel could assist us greatly in bringing down this regime. We, as the Syrian people, have discovered that our first and primary enemy is the Assad family, Hezbollah and Iran. The main enemy is this [Assad] regime and not Israel.”
This was not the first instance that Adnan reached out to Israel. Within the past couple of weeks, he wrote, “I appeal to Israel and the United States — help us stop the crimes and the massacres that Assad is carrying out.” “Iran is helping [Assad] to carry out these chemical weapons attacks and Hezbollah is with him too. Look the Syrian people in the eye. All we need is freedom, like all other people in the world. We are looking for peace and this is a historical chance to reach a peace agreement.”

Loved you way before I saw you,

Loved you way before I saw you,
The tiny speck of life you were,
Tucked away inside your mother,
Yet still a part of me for sure.

That happy day my arms received you
No greater joy could ere be mine.
My heart embraced you, priceless treasure,
And overflowed with love divine.

I thought you looked just like your father,
Yet some of Mom was there to see.
And maybe it was wishful thinking,
But I'm sure I saw a trait from me.

A wonder you are my precious grandchild.
God made you with a drop of me,
And yet you're unique, so truly special,
And I dream of what you'll some day be.

Rosh Hashanah

Although Rosh Hashanah is the day on which we stand before our Creator for evaluation of our deeds of the past year, if there is one thought we can leave you with this year it is: You are good. You might not have done everything perfectly this year. You might wish you could turn back the clock and do a few things differently. You might not be perfect, but you are good enough. Your life has value because you exist; because you were created by your Creator. Your life has value. You might feel small, but you are more powerful than you think. Crown your Creator and enjoy the sound of the shofar. You are good, and nobody can ever take your goodness away from you. Shana Tova
