Love Your God ~

The first part of the prayer is from Deuteronomy 6:4 and directly precedes the greatest commandment in verse 5, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might." The second line of the Sh'ma that we recite comes from a liturgical response in use in the Temple when the name of God was pronounced. It is taken from Psalm 72:19.
